No shortage of gas in country, says Union Power Minister
After a meeting with Officials of the Power Ministry, BSES, and Tata Power, the Union Power Minister has denied any shortage of gas in the past, nor will it happen in the future in the country.

New Delhi: After a meeting with Officials of the Power Ministry, BSES, and Tata Power, the Union Power Minister has denied any shortage of gas in the past, nor will it happen in the future in the country.
Earlier, Officials of the Power Ministry, BSES, and Tata Power reach the residence of Union Power Minister RK Singh for a meeting over coal shortage at power plants.
"I have asked the GAIL CMD to continue supplying the required amount of gas to power stations across the country. He has assured me that the supplies will continue. Neither there was any shortage of gas in the past, nor will it happen in the future," told Union Power Minister RK Singh to news agency ANI.
"In effect, neither there was, nor there is any crisis. It was created unnecessarily. I've warned Tata Power CEO of action if they send baseless SMSs to customers that can create panic. Messages by GAIL & Tata Power qualify as acts of irresponsible behaviour, " he said.

Talking on the issue of shartage in coal reserve, the minister hit back at Congress for spreading the panic in the country.
RK Singh said, "We have an average coal reserve (at power stations) that can last for more than 4 days. The stock is replenished every day. I am in touch with (Union Minister for Coal & Mines) Pralhad Joshi. Unfortunately, the Congress party has run out of ideas. They are running out of votes and therefore they are running out of ideas as well".
Meanwhile, The Ministry of Coal reassured that ample coal is available in the country to meet the demand of power plants. Any fear of disruption in power supply is entirely misplaced. The coal stock at power plant end is about 72 Lakh tonnes, sufficient for 4 days requirement, and that the Coal India Limited (CIL) end is more than 400 Lakh tonnes, which is being supplied to the power plants.
