PM Modi holds high-level meeting on Ukraine crisis
PM Modi, the ministers and the officials reviewed the situation in war-affected Ukraine and discussed strategies to evacuate Indian citizens stuck in the war zones of Ukraine.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over another high-level meeting to review the situation in Ukraine and the status of the evacuation of Indian nationals from the war-torn country.
Those who attended the meeting were his cabinet colleagues: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Piyush Goyal, foreign secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, national security adviser Ajit Doval, and several other key officials.

Under Operation Ganga, India has been evacuating its citizens through special flights from neighbouring countries of war-affected Ukraine, such as Hungary, Poland, and Romania. According to the aviation ministry, more than 13,700 Indians have been successfully evacuated from Ukraine and returned to India aboard special planes since February 22 as part of Operation Ganga. This included 3,000 Indians who were flown by 12 civilian and three Indian Air Force flights on Sunday.
In a statement, the ministry said on Sunday that India will operate 11 special flights from Budapest, Bucharest, Rzeszow, and Kosice, bringing more than 2200 Indians back home.
India on Saturday said the evacuation of around 700 students stuck in Sumy, an eastern city in Ukraine, was in focus. Sumy witnessing shelling and airstrikes. The evacuation effort in these neighbouring countries is being coordinated by four Union Ministers: Joyotiraditya Scindia, Kiren Rijiju, Gen (Retd) VK Singh, and Hardeep Singh Puri.
The External Affairs Ministry spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi, said the evacuation of the Indians stuck in Sumy was the main challenge as the city was witnessing shelling, violence, and a lack of transportation. Bagchi stated on Saturday that the MEA hopes to evacuate its stranded citizens from Pisochyn and Kharkiv within the next few hours.
