Probation Sub-Inspector killed in terror attack in Srinagar

Srinagar: A newly recruited Sub-Inspector of Jammu & Kashmir Police was martyred in a terror attack in Srinagar on Sunday.

Police said the officer was shot dead when he had taken a person who had been detained for a medical check-up to a medical facility at Khanyar in downtown Srinagar.

The Police said, "Arshid Ahmad Mir, Probation Sub- Inspector, was critically injured in a cowardly attack of terrorists at Khanyar in Srinagar. He was shifted to Hospital where he left for heavenly abode."

The body of Arshid Ahmad Mir reached his home in Kupwara for his last rites on Sunday evening.

Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, condemned the killing and assured that terrorists will be punished.

"I strongly condemn the brutal killing of our braveheart Police Officer Arshad Ashraf Mir by terrorists. This is a handiwork of enemies of humanity and peace. His supreme sacrifice won't go in vain, terrorists will be punished for the act. Heartfelt condolences to the martyr's family."
