Gang rape: Police gets lead in the case

Mysuru: Home Minister Araga Jnanendra has inspected the crime sport where gang rape has occurred in Chamundeshari hill, outskirts of Mysuru. 

Along with DG and IGP, Praveen Sood, Mr. Jnanendra held a meeting with police officers of Mysuru, instructed them to arrest the culprits as early as possible. 

Speaking to media persons here on Friday, Mr. Sood said that police had not recorded the statement of the victim since she has not recovered from the shock; once the victim recovers from the status of shock, police will record her statement, he said. 

The investigation is going on in full swung, since it is a very sensitive case; investigation details cannot be divulged at this stage, Mr. Sood said and added that police need more time to nab the accused.

Sources said that police had got a clinching lead in the case, police have suspected against four engineering students of Mysuru, who reportedly skipped the exams, the day after the incident. 

The police team has left for Kerala and Tamil Nadu to nab the culprits; students have vacated their room in Mysuru. 

Police have also traced the locations of the mobile towers at the outskirts of Mysuru and traced the highest number of incoming and outgoing calls during a particular time. Based on lead and evidence obtained at the crime spot, police have left Kerala, sources added. 

Meanwhile, Congress has demanded the resignation of the Home Minister for his insensitive statement against the victim. 

DGP said that six-team has been formed comprising Mysuru and Bengaluru police. The police have yet to take custody of the accused.
