Russia ready for talks if Ukraine surrenders: Sergei Lavrov

Moscow: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday that Moscow would be ready to hold talks with Kyiv, but only once Ukraine's military had laid down its arms, reported news agency AFP.

Lavrov also said that Moscow did not want "neo-Nazis" to govern Ukraine.

Russia will retaliate against new Western sanctions, 'restrictions have yet to be analysed', Kremlin said.

Russian forces are approaching the outskirts of Ukraine's capital on Friday after launching airstrikes on cities and military establishments.  Russia has attacked Ukraine from three sides, the attack could rewrite the history of the post-cold war security order.

On Friday early morning two loud blasts were heard in central Kyiv. Ukraine's army said that Russia fired on civilian areas of Kyiv.

The nature of the explosions was not immediately clear, but the blasts came amid signs that the capital and largest Ukrainian city was increasingly threatened following a day of fighting that left more than 100 Ukrainians dead, Associated Press reported.

Ukraine President  Volodymyr Zelenskyy said not all possibilities for sanctions have been exhausted yet. The pressure on Russia must increase. Said this to  Ursula von der Leyen President of EU Commission. "I am grateful to the President for her decision on additional financial assistance", said Zelenskyy in a tweet.
