Punjab CM’s oath-taking ceremony will be immersed in yellow

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister-designate Bhagwant Mann is all set to take the oath on March 16 at Khatkar Kalan, the native place of legendary freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh.

The Aam Aadmi Party swept the Punjab Assembly election by winning 92 seats in the 117-member Assembly. Following AAP’s spectacular performance, the party conducted a roadshow in Amritsar on Sunday to express gratitude to the voters.

In his first speech after the party’s win in Dhuri, Mann announced that he would take the oath as CM of Punjab at Khatkar Kalan, the native of Bhagat Singh. On that day also, he wore a yellow turban, the colour the AAP is popularising and associating with the martyr.

In a Twitter post, Mann has requested people to turn up to his oath-taking ceremony in yellow turbans and ladies wearing yellow shawls. "I request people to reach Khatkar Kalan on March 16th (for the swearing-in ceremony). I asked my brothers to wear yellow turbans that day and my sisters to drape yellow shawls/stoles. We will colour Khatkar Kalan in 'Basanti rang' that day," he said in a post.

'I miss the house'

Meanwhile, Mann reached Parliament House to submit his resignation as an MP. Mann said that he would miss this house. Punjab has given me a big responsibility. I promise the people of Sangrur that a bold voice will echo in the House soon. He was elected to the House twice from this seat.
