Punjab Congress crisis: Sukhjinder Randhawa likely to be CM
Chandigarh: Congress MLA Sukhjinder Randhawa is likely to be the next chief minister of Punjab. Randhawa represents Dera Baba Nanak Assembly Constituency in Punjab.
Earlier, Congress MLA Pritam Kotbhai, in Chandigarh, said, "All MLAs have named Sukhjinder Randhawa for CM before Congress high command, he will become the CM" .
Randhawa first successfully contested for Punjab Legislative Assembly from Fatehgarh Churian in 2002 defeating Akali dal's Nirmal Singh Kahlon. In 2012, he was elected from a new constituency Dera Baba Nanak. A three-time MLA, Randhawa, was the Jails and Co-operation Minister in the outgoing cabinet.

Also, Randhawa's father Santokh Singh served as Punjab Congress chief twice and was one of the most senior congressmen in his time.
Earlier in the day, former union minister and currently Rajya Sabha MP Ambika Soni declined the offer to be the next chief minister of the state. She said Punjab should have a Sikh as chief minister.
After Captain Amarinder Singh resigned as Chief Minister of Punjab on Saturday, the suspense continued over the new chief ministerial face in the state followed by the party MLAs resolution that interim president Sonia Gandhi’s decision will be final in the matter.
