Punjab Polls: Congress releases first list of 86 candidates
Punjab Congress is a divided house, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu are locking horns. Despite all odds, the party is trying hard to retain power. Meanwhile AAP is giving tough fight to the ruling Congress.
Chandigarh: Congress has released the first list of 86 candidates for Punjab Assembly elections.
Elections will be held on February 14 for 117 seats. Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi will contest from Chamkaur Saheb and Punjab Congress chief, Navjot Singh Sidhu will contest from Amritsar East constituency.
Actor-activist Sonu Sood’s sister Malvika and controversial Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala has been given ticket from Moga and Mansa Assembly constituencies respectively. Giving tickets to Singer Moosewala has raised eyebrows to all including party leaders in the state.
Moosewala - known to flaunt guns in his music videos - faces many cases that accuse him of glorifying violence.
The election will be held to 117 seats of the Punjab Assembly on February 14. Results will be announced on March 10.
Despite internal bickering, the ruling bjp is trying hard to come back to power. But this time it has facing tough challenges from AAP.
