Ravichandran Ashwin breaks Kapil Dev's record by taking 435 Test wickets
In 2021, the off-spinner became the fastest Indian and the second-fastest bowler overall to reach 400 wickets on Thursday, Day Two of India's third Test against England.

Mohali: Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Sunday broke the legendary Kapil Dev's record of 434 Test wickets. Ashwin became India's second-highest wicket-taker in Test matches after leg-spinner Anil Kumble.
Ashwin scalped 435th wicket with his delivery to Charith Asalanka who was caught behind the stumps.
Ashwin took 100th wicket (Darren Sammy') in West Indies' first innings. He has taken only 18 Tests to take these many wickets - the fastest bowler to the landmark since Clarrie Grimmett took 100 wickets in his 17th Test, against West Indies in 1931.
