Bengaluru: In a tragic news that shook the Sandalwood fraternity, superstar Puneeth Rajkumar passed away at Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru on Friday.
After the actor felt uneasy, he was taken to Ramana Rao clinic. Later, he was shifted to Vikram Hospital. The actor's family, senior actors and actresses, producers have reached the hospital as the news broke out.
"Puneeth Rajkumar was brought to the emergency department at 11:40 am. He was non-responsive and was in Cardiac Asystole and Advanced cardiac resuscitation has been initiated", as per medical bulletin by Vikram Hospital.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Cabinet ministers rushed to the hospital to check on the health of the actor. Also, Bengaluru Police has arranged security outside the hospital to manage as fans have started thronging the hospital premises.
Puneeth is the fifth and youngest child of Sandalwood matinee idol late Dr Rajkumar. The leading actor is known as the fittest person in the Kannada film industry.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters and five siblings. Puneeth is the younger brother of senior actor Shiva Rajkumar and producer Raghvendra Rajkumar.
