SC to hear TMC's contempt plea ahead of civic body polls in BJP-ruled Tripura
The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear tomorrow a contempt plea of Trinamool Congress (TMC) claiming that the law and order situation in Tripura is "worsening" by the day ahead of civil body elections.

The apex court had earlier asked Tripura Police authorities to ensure that no political party is prevented from exercising their rights in accordance with law for political campaigning in a peaceful manner, reported news agency ANI.
A delegation of more than 15 Trinamool Congress MPs has reached Delhi on Sunday. The delegation has sought an appointment with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah over police brutality faced by TMC workers at the hands of Tripura Police. They are likely to sit in Dharna from today.
Meanwhile, TMC Youth Congress chief Saayoni Ghosh arrested by Agartala Police for allegedly trying to mow down BJP workers at a public meeting She has been arrested based on preliminary evidence. The police has registered a case under sections 307, 153 of IPC.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won in the state won 112 of the total 334 seats uncontested in the Agartala Municipal Corporation and 19 urban local bodies ahead of the 25 November elections. This will be the first civic election that the BJP will face after coming to power in the border state in 2018.
A total of 785 contestants are in the fray for the remaining 222 seats, elections for which are scheduled to be held on 25 November.
