SKM's scheduled tractor rally to Parliament postponed
Farmer leaders have urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw the cases registered against farmers.
New Delhi: Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has decided to postpone the proposed tractor rally to Parliament on November 29, Monday. Nearly 70 representatives of various unions of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan took part in today's meeting.
After a meeting in Delhi, Farmer leader Darshan Pal Singh, "Samyukt Kisan Morcha has decided to postpone the proposed tractor rally to Parliament on November 29".
Also, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait, who is Amritsar, said, "That (SKM's scheduled march to the Parliament on 29th Nov) has been postponed, we have given time to the Govt until 4th Dec, to think. Committee will take its further decision on 4th".
Farmer leaders have urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw the cases registered against farmers.
"PM Narendra Modi should direct state governments and Railways to withdraw the cases registered against farmers during the protest," said a leader of Samyukt Kisan Morcha.
In today's meeting of SKM, leaders have decided to continue to protest until government holds talks with us over MSP, the death of farmers during the protest, and the Lakhimpur violence matter. The union disagree with the government's announcements today.
Earlier, Agriculture Minister NS Tomar said that PM Modi has announced to constitute a committee to deliberate on the issues of crop diversification, zero-budget farming, and making MSP system more transparent and effective. The committee will have representatives from farmers' organizations.
"With the constitution of this committee, farmers' demand on MSP stands fulfilled", said Tomar.
