Johannesburg: South Africa beat India by 7 wickets to level the 3-match series 1-1, SA chased down the 240-run target with captain Dean Elgar scoring an unbeaten 96.

Proteas chased 243 for 3 in 67.4 Overs, their highest successful run chase at the venue. South Africa beat India for the first time at the Wanderers and keep the series alive. 

It was also their highest successful run chase in the fourth innings since pulling off an incredible run chase of 414 in Perth in 2008 against Australia.

Earlier on 4th Day  of the Test match, two sessions were lost persistent rain. There was a maximum of 34 overs possible in the day on a moisture-laden surface.

Dean Elgar and van der Dussen started on a positive note, added 43 runs in the first 10 overs of the day.  Proteas grew in confidence as the Elgar-Bavuma partnership flourished. Aiden Markram and Keegan Petersen gave him good support on the third day, Rassie Van der Dussen (40), with an 82-run  stand. Dean Elgar declared the Man of the Match.

The final game will be played from January 11 in Cape Town.
