State police will be trained on par with NDA: Bommai

Mysuru: Home Minister Basavarj Bommai said that Karnataka police will be trained on par with training at National Defence Academy (NDA) on Wednesday. 

Police have to adjust to changing administrative reforms from time to time. We will impart training to them on par with National Defence Academy training to the armed forces. 

Addressing, passing out parade ceremony of 35th probationary superintendent of police, Mr. Bommai said that police have to become good administrator, thus they need proper training, the existing training needs to be changed Government is contemplating to give training to police personals on par with the training of National Defence Academy, he said. 

In the recent past, there is an increase in cybercrime cases. In many criminal cases, the accused have been using technology and software. There is an instance of using technology to harass women and children. Police have to be trained to unearth technology-related crimes. So there is a need for change in the existing syllabus in the Police training school. "I have discussed with DGP; a committee will be formed under the headship of ADGP”, Mr. Bommai said. 

Committee will have subject experts, once the committee submits its report on the change of syllabus, the same will be incorporated in the training curriculum, Mr. Bommai added.
