Maurya’s high voltage campaign featured Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda, and senior minister Nitin Gadkari. One of Maurya's campaigns was attended by Anupriya Patil, sister of opposition candidate Pallavi Patel.
Not only Maurya, but 10 ministers of Yogi’s cabinet lost the election. The second deputy chief minister, Dinesh Sharma, did not contest the election. There are options available to Maurya to make it to the cabinet via the council, but the party's high command has remained silent thus far.
Initial trends started showing that Maurya was leading, but his lead decreased and finally lost to Pallavi Patel. When the trends started showing in favour of him, he tweeted, "The public is winning, hooliganism is losing." Soon after his defeat, his tweet became viral.
