US Prisoners Dig Holes With Toothbrush To Escape, Caught Hours Later Eating Pancakes At IHOP
Two prisoners in the US state of Virginia dug themselves out of their cell with a toothbrush, went to a local pancake restaurant, and were caught a few hours later.
According to a statement released by the Newport News Sheriff's Office, two inmates went missing during a routine headcount at the Newport News Detention Annex on Monday evening.Diners who recognized the fugitives alerted the police. Officers from the Hampton Police Department arrived at the IHOP and placed both suspects under arrest without any struggle. The sheriff expressed gratitude to the community for assisting in the arrest of the escaped prisoners.For many offences, including contempt of court, violating the conditions of his supervision, and failing to appear in court, Garza was sentenced to jail. Many on social media couldn't stop reciting lines from the prison escape movie "The Shawshank Redemption," a Hollywood classic.
One said, "I just want to know whether they got their pancakes or not," while another user commented, "How were they planning to pay for that meal?"
