Uttarakhand: 13 dead after vehicle falls into gorge in Chakrata

At least 13 people died and two people were rescued after a vehicle rolled down a gorge at Bulhad-Baila road in Chakrata, Dehradun district on Sunday.

Dehradun: At least 13 people died and two people were rescued after a vehicle rolled down a gorge at Bulhad-Baila road in Chakrata, Dehradun district, Uttarakhand, on Sunday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced ex-gratia to the next of kin of the deceased. 

PMO announced a statement, "An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the tragic accident in Chakrata, Uttarakhand. The injured would be given Rs 50,000 each".  

Last week, a similar incident was reported from Jammu and Kashmir. Eight people died and several were injured as a minibus travelling from Thathri to Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, fell into a gorge on Thursday.

PM Modi had announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives, Rs. 50,000 for the injured.
