Mumbai: NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede's father, Dnyandev Wankhede and wife, Kranti Redkar Wankhede met Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale on Sunday following Maharashtra Home Minister Nawab Malik's allegations against Sameer Wankhede.
After the meeting, Kranti Redkar Wankhede, Sameer Wankhede's wife, said, "We came here today, he (Athawale) said that it's unfortunate that he's (Malik) snatching away a Dalit's seat. He's (Athawale) standing with us as he cares for every Dalit. So far Nawab Malik's all allegations have proven to be a lie".
"Nawab Malik says that we took away a Dalit's rights. We ourselves are Dalit. If you have to say anything, go to court. Just because my son arrested his son-in-law, he's levelling allegations. My son or I never converted, allegations are false, " said: Dnyandev Wankhede, Sameer's father.

Nawab Malik had released a document that he claimed was the 'nikhanama' (written document that two Muslim partners entering into a civil union) of Sameer Wankhede and reiterated his allegation that Wankhede, in spite of being a Muslim, had taken reservation benefits of the Scheduled Caste (SC) community to secure his job in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS).
The minister alleged that Wankhede has faked the caste certificate to appear for a competitive exam. He also said that he doesn't have a problem with him being a Muslim or a person from any other religion as one has the freedom to practice the religion of our choice. However, he alleged that Wankhede by faking his caste certificate has denied the right of a hard-working child from the Scheduled Caste community by usurping a seat meant for SCs.
