Uttarakhand Assembly Elections 2022: Expelled BJP Minister Harak Singh Rawat joins Congress
Following his expulsion, Rawat pledged that Congress would form the government in Uttarakhand, and he would work for the party.
Dehradun: Expelled Uttarakhand BJP Minister Harak Singh Rawat joined Congress in presence of former chief minister Harish Rawat on Friday.
After joing the party, Rawat said, "When Congress wins with full majority on March 10, that'll be my apology (on saying there are no apologies in politics). BJP thought of me as a 'use & throw'; I was very upset. I didn't break my friendship with HM Amit Shah till the last moment, as I had promised."
Last week, BJP expelled the minister Harak Singh Rawat for lobbying to get party tickets for family members in the upcoming assembly elections.
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami dismissed Rawat from the party. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that Rawat was putting pressure on the party to give tickets to his family members against the party policy.
According to Harak Singh Rawat, he was expelled by BJP without any intimation. The expulsion came as a shocker to the minister. Rawat broke down after speaking about his expulsion from the party.
Following his expulsion, Rawat pledged that Congress would form the government in Uttarakhand, and he would work for the party.
He was the candidate of the Indian National Congress from Garhwal in the 2014 Indian general election. In 2016, he joined BJP and became a minister in the BJP government.
