Won’t stop Mekedatu Padayatra: D.K. Shivakumar
"Congress will not cancel its Mekedatu Padayatra from January 9 to 19. We will not deter the threat of the state government for slapping cases against us for violating Covid norms", D.K. Shivakumar said.
Bengaluru: Notwithstanding raise in Coronavirus cases, KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar categorically said that the party will go ahead with its Mekedatu Padayatra from January 9 to 19, urging the state government to implement the project.
Hitting back at Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. K.Sudhakar, who requested the Congress to consider its plan of conducting Padayatra due to raising of Covid cases, Mr. Shivakumar said instead of advising Congress, Mr.Sudhkar should discharge his responsibility and can help the state by bringing pending central grants from the Centre, he said.
In the guise of Covid, people have been harassed at Airport, the state government should take action against errant officials who harass people.
The state government is already registering cases against Congress workers. BJP leaders have attended public programs during Covid, why cases are not registering against them, Mr. Shivakumar questioned.
“Congress will not stop its Padayata, though government registered hundred cases against us. We are fighting for the cause of the people and drinking water problem of Bengaluru people”, Mr. Shivakumar said.
