1.50 lakh Health and Wellness Centers by Dec 2022 under Health Infrastructure Mission

New Delhi: Union Health Ministry on Tuesday briefed about plans under Health Infrastructure Mission that was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi.
Prof Saurabh Varshney, Executive Director &CEO, AIIMS Deoghar said, " Health Infrastructure Mission is the largest Pan-India scheme for the creation and improvement of long-term Public Healthcare Infrastructure. Under this mission, the necessary infrastructure will be developed for the diagnosis and monitoring of diseases".
"1.50 lakh Health and Wellness Centers to be opened till December 2022 out of which 79,415 HWCs are already operational; Under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana 2.31 crore people have been benefitted," he said.
Under the mission, Critical Care Hospital Blocks will be established in 602 districts. Also, 15 Health Emergency Operation Centres will be established at the state level; 2 Container-based Mobile Hospitals to be established at the National level.
The Prime Minister said that PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission the aim is to strengthen the critical healthcare network from village to block to the district to the regional and national level in the next 4-5 years.
