9 tourists killed as boulders rolldown due to landslide in Himachal Pradesh
Shimla: In a terrifying incident, at least nine persons commuting in a traveller, were killed and three others injured after boulders rolled downhill due to a landslide in the Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh, on Sunday.
"Batseri bridge was collapsed in the incident. Rescue team present at the spot", news agency ANI quoted Saju Ram Rana, Superintendent of Police, as saying.
Reacting to the tragic incident, Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur said, "I spoke to the Kinnaur district administration and inquired about the accident. The administration has started rescue operation at the spot and immediate relief is being provided there. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of the injured".

The hill state is seeing a surge in visitors after Himachal Pradesh relaxed travel restrictions. According to reports, a record number of 18500 tourists visited Himachal Pradesh per day. Also, 7500 tourists visited the tourist hotspot Atal Tunnel Rohtang.
Meanwhile, according to Himachal Meteorological Centre, rainfall activity is "very likely" to increase around Sunday for subsequent 3-4 days with moderate to very heavy rainfall in lower and middle hills and districts of Himachal Pradesh.
