Amarinder Singh to contest from Patiala, list of 22 candidates released
On 28 December 2021, the party allied with BJP and SAD(S) to contest 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election.
Chandigarh: Former Punjab CM and Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) chief Captain Amarinder Singh released the list of 22 candidates for the upcoming assembly elections on Sunday.
Amarinder Singh, who is contesting from Patiala, under his newly formed party Punjab Lok Congress, announced 22 candidates in the first list.
Captain Amarinder Singh said, "Out of 22 candidates- 2 candidates from Majha, 3 from Doaba and 17 from the Malwa region. The second list is likely to be released in two days."

PLC was founded by Amarinder Singh on 2 November 2021, following a split in Indian National Congress in Punjab, after he resigned as Chief Minister of Punjab and quit the Indian National Congress (INC).
The party applied for its official registration with the Election Commission of India on 31 October 2021. On 28 December 2021, the party allied with BJP and SAD(S) to contest 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election.
The Punjab Legislative Assembly elections will be held in Punjab on 20 February 2022 to elect the 117 members of the 16th Assembly of the Punjab Legislative Assembly. The votes will be counted and the results will be declared on 10 March 2022.
