BJP MLA criticises party’s ‘adjustment’ politics with JD(S)

Bengaluru: BJP central leadership’s new political alignment with Janatha Dal (Secular), directing newly nominated Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to seek blessings of former Prime Minister H.D.Devegowda did not goes well with party MLAs for the old Mysuru region. 

Hassan BJP MLA Preetham Gowda publicly expressed his displeasure against Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for his meeting with H.D Devegowda soon after the former took oath as the Chief Minister. 

Mr. Preetham Gowda termed Chief Minister’s meeting with H.D.Devegowda as nothing but adjustment politics. 

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Preetham Gowda said that, “ usually after taking oath any Chief Minister goes to Mutts seeking blessings of pontiffs; however, our Chief Minister has met the former Prime Minister H.D.Devegowda, party workers opinioned that, Chief Minister’s meeting with former Prime Minister sends the wrong message to the party cadres and workers”. 

“It is our party workers are fighting with their opponents at a local level, we are not adopting adjustment politics in Hassan district. Our aim is to build the party in the old Mysuru region”, Preetham Gowda added.

Hassan BJP MLA said that he has not lobbied for a minister’s post in the Bommai cabinet. “I have not demanded minister’s post, so question regarding denial of minister post to me does not arise”, he said. 

However he said that, no representation has been given to the Old Mysuru region in the Cabinet, it would hamper the party prospects to expand its base in Vokkaliga heartland, he opinioned. 

Another BJP M LC, C.P. Yogishwar, had criticized then Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa for his adjustment politics with JD(S) leader and former Chief Minister H.D.Kumaraswamy. Mr. Yogishwar has failed to get a place in Bommai Cabinet. BJP’s new alignment with JD(S) has made the party to drop prominent Vokkaliga leaders in the old Mysuru region in the Bommai cabinet.
