Bombay HC to hear Raj Kundra's bail plea next week

Mumbai: Bombay High Court granted interim relief to businessman and Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra and kept his anticipatory bail application for hearing next Wednesday, 25th August in the pornography case.

An ACP-level officer heading the SIT, constituted by the Mumbai Crime Branch, is investigating the Pornography case. The team will report to senior officers of the Crime Branch.

Mumbai Police Crime Branch has arrested actress Shilpa Shetty's husband and businessman Raj Kundra in connection with a case relating to the production of Pornography.

The Mumbai police said they have sufficient evidence regarding the case against Raj Kundra. He has been booked with IPC sections of cheating, indulging in obscene acts in public places, and publicly exhibiting or circulating obscene books or literature under the Information Technology Act.

In previous hearings, the Mumbai Police opposed Raj Kundra's bail pleas before the sessions court, claiming that if released, the accused could commit similar offences again and impact the "social culture". Kundra and co-accused Ryan Thorpe had filed for bail before the sessions court after the metropolitan magistrate's court rejected similar pleas last month.
