Centre launches Donate-a- Pension scheme
Workers in the age group of 18-40 years working in the unorganized sector can register themselves and deposit a minimum of Rs 660 to 2,400 depending on their age every year
“Donate-a-Pension” campaign under Pradhan MantriShram Yogi Maan-Dhan(PM-SYM) was launched by Union Labour and Employment Minister Bhupender Yadav on Monday to encourage people to donate to their support staff's pension fund.
The minister tweeted about the launching of the programme, he said “Launched ‘Donate-a-Pension’ programme at my residence by donating to the gardener. It is an initiative under (PM-SYM) pension scheme where citizens can donate the premium contribution of their immediate support staff such as domestic workers, drivers, helpers etc.”
Workers in the age group of 18-40 years working in the unorganized sector can register themselves and deposit a minimum of Rs 660 to 2,400 depending on their age every year. They will receive a minimum assured pension of Rs 3,000 per month after they attain the age of 60 years, the minister said.
The Labour Minister is celebrating Iconic Week from March 7 to 13 and this program was part of this Iconic Week celebration, said the ministry.
In the week-long celebration, apart from ‘Donate- Pension,’ other activities celebration of 25 crore registrations under e-SHRAM, a job fair hosted by National Career Service Centres, placement drives, and employment-oriented camps with a specific emphasis on SC/STs and differently-abled individuals in 65 cities throughout India, by educating workers and employers throughout the country about their rights and responsibilities under various labour laws, launching e-SHRAM on the UMANG app,
