London: For the next two days, United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson will host the World Leaders Summit @COP26, a chance for over 120 leaders to set out how they will tackle climate change.

World leaders have been warned that Cop26 must “mark the beginning of the end of climate change” amid last-minute talks that could help determine the future of the planet.

"The @COP26 summit is our best chance to make the changes we need to safeguard the beauty and balance of the natural world, and to pass it to future generations. The world must follow the UK's lead and commit to net zero emissions by the mid-century."

Speaking at the close of the G20 summit in Rome the prime minister told BBC that there were no compelling excuses for procrastination.

"Not only have we acknowledged the problem, we have already seen first hand the devastation that climate change causes - heatwaves and droughts to wildfires and hurricanes", he said.

Referring to a treaty on climate change that came from a previous COP summit in 2015, he said: "If we don't act now, the Paris Agreement will be looked at in the future, not as the moment that humanity opened its eyes to the problem but the moment we flinched and turned away.
