Punjab Assembly Elections 2022: BJP to contest on 65 seats, PLC on 37 & SAD-Sanyukt- 15 seats

Former Punjab CM and Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) chief Captain Amarinder Singh has released the list of 22 candidates for the upcoming assembly elections on Sunday.

Chandigarh: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest election on 65 seats, former chief minister Capt. Amarinder Singh led Punjab Lok Congress 37 seats, and SAD-Sanyukt will contest 15 seats in the upcoming Punjab Assembly Elections. 

Former Punjab CM and Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) chief Captain Amarinder Singh has released the list of 22 candidates for the upcoming assembly elections on Sunday.

Announcing seat allocations in Punjab, BJP Chief JP Nadda said, "Punjab needs special attention. Security is a very important issue. This election is for stability and safety. Our motto is to bring back Punjab on track."

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has constituted SIT to probe the 1984 riots, and today accused are in jails. We will abolish 'Mafia Raj' in Punjab," said Nadda.

Later, BJP President JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah today met NDA allies of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh and Sardar Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa of SAD-Sanyukt.

The Punjab Legislative Assembly elections will be held in Punjab on 20 February 2022 to elect the 117 members of the 16th Assembly of the Punjab Legislative Assembly. The votes will be counted and the results will be declared on 10 March 2022.
