Chandigarh: Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu termed AAP convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is scamster for allegedly making ‘fraud’ and ‘fake’ surveys on the chief ministerial face in Punjab.
Mr. Sidhu seeking an unconditional apology from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for showing ‘disrespect’ to Punjabis for his fraudulent act. Meanwhile, Mr. Sidhu has written a letter to the Election Commission of India seeking action against AAP.
Last week, AAP named party MP, Bhagwant Maan as its Chief Ministerial face, stated that he has received 93 percent votes in televoting drive, people asked to phone in their choice for the top post. AAP claimed that Navjot Sidhu got 3 percent votes and votes polled to Kejriwal has been considered invalid. Total 21 lakh people have participated in this exercise.
Mr Sidhu, who heads the ruling Congress in Punjab, said the Congress has complained about AAP's "Janta Chunegi Apna CM" drive to the Election Commission and asked it to investigate the matter through call and message logs. Citing the Model Code of Conduct, the party has demanded that a criminal case be filed against AAP and its party chief if the campaign is found fake.
"A show-cause notice has been sent today. He (Arvind Kejriwal) is trying to fool the people of Punjab through his dirty tricks...AAP has created a hybrid model of fake news," Mr Sidhu told reporters today, NDTV reports.
