‘Courtesy call’ as BJP, Sena legislators attend dinner hosted by MNC Chief Pawar
New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari attended a dinner party organised by NCP chief Sharad Pawar in New Delhi. BJP, the opposition in Maharashtra, is accused of indirectly supporting MNS chief Raj Thackeray in trying to foment communal hatred by demanding a ban on Azaan given through loudspeakers.
The party was also attended by Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut and Maharashtra MLAs of different parties.
Downplaying any rumour of any political development at the party, Maharashtra Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan, who is also a Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, said that it was just a courtesy call by Pawar.
Earlier in the day, Maharashtra MLAs attended a tea party at Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut's house at 6 PM.
According to reports, Sharad Pawar had invited Maharashtra's MLAs for a dinner as the leaders from all the parties we're attending a training program in Parliament. The training program was for all the first-time MLAs as per the parliamentary system of the country.
Meanwhile, Chavan said that for the first time MLAs elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly have been called by the Lok Sabha Secretariat to Delhi for an orientation program for 2 days. Since legislators of Maharashtra had come to Delhi, the party was organised as a courtesy, he said
