Cruise ship drug case: 5-member team arrives in Mumbai to probe allegations of payoffs

Mumbai: A five-member team of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), including DDG NCB Gyaneshwar Singh, arrived in Mumbai from Delhi on Wednesday. The team will probe the allegations of corruption made by Prabhakar Sail, who is a witness in the drugs-on-cruise matter of Mumbai.

On arrival DDG NCB Gyaneshwar Singh said, " Documents and records were collected from office (NCB office), witnesses were called. We've started the probe, witnesses' statements will be taken".

"His (Sameer Wankhede) statement is being taken. All material witness for this inquiry will be called. I would not like to take anyone's name here, " he said.

In a major twist in the cruise ship drug case involving Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan, one of the witnesses on Sunday alleged collusion and pay-offs against the Narcotics Control Bureau's (NCB) senior officer Sameer Wankhede and alleged private investigator KP Gosavi.

DG NCB had ordered the vigilance section to mark probe into the alleged pay-offs to NCB officer Sameer Wankhede in the cruise ship drug case.

Wankhede has reportedly denied any wrongdoing, saying he would give "a fitting reply".

According to NDTV report, in an affidavit filed by Prabhakar Sail, the bodyguard of KP Gosavi, he claimed that he was present in a car and heard KP Gosavi speak to one Sam D'Souza of an Rs 18 crore deal, of which Rs 8 crore was to be paid to Sameer Wankhede.

Also, Sail claimed that the same evening, KP Gosavi, Sam D'Souza and Shah Rukh Khan's manager Pooja Dadlani, had a 15-minute meeting inside a car. He also said he had received the cash from KP Gosavi and handed it over to Sam D'Souza.
