Delhi Police arrests actress for duping Ranbaxy ex-founder's wife

New Delhi: Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police arrested Leena Maria Paul, partner of conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, in connection with a case related to allegedly duping Aditi Singh, wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Singh.

The Economic Offences Wing has arrested four more persons in connection with the case.

Leena Maria Paul has worked in the Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi film industries. She made her acting debut in the Mohanlal-starrer Red Chillies (2009). Also, Leena starred in Shoojit Sircar`s war drama Madras Cafe (2013) as a Tamil rebel.

Leena's partner Sukesh Chandrashekhar ran his business from behind the bars of Delhi's Tihar Jail. He has amassed property worth Rs 200 crore of it has allegedly been extorted from Aditi Singh, the wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Singh, purportedly to ensure his bail.

In her complaint to the police, Aditi Singh said she had paid Rs 200 crore over 11 months since June 2020 in 30 instalments. She was told that the money was to be paid to the BJP party funds and central ministers Amit Shah and then law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad was on her side.

Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Singh and his brother Malvinder Singh have been in jail since October 2019 in a fraud case.
