Drugs-on-cruise case: Vigilance team head arrives in Mumbai to probe payoff allegations

Mumbai: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Deputy Director General Gyaneshwar Singh, who is leading a vigilance team of the agency, reached Mumbai on Monday. The vigilance team has summoned Prabhakar Sail, a witness in the drugs-on-cruise case to record his statement in the alleged payoff in the case on Monday.

"I won't take names, but all those who are needed will be called (for questioning). I expect Prabhakar Sail to come today (for questioning)", said NCB Deputy Director General Gyaneshwar Singh told news agency ANI.

In a major twist in the cruise ship drug case involving Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan, Prabhakar Sail alleged collusion and pay-offs against the NCB's senior officer Sameer Wankhede and alleged private investigator KP Gosavi.

In an affidavit filed by Prabhakar Sail, the bodyguard of KP Gosavi, he claimed that he was present in a car and heard KP Gosavi speak to one Sam D'Souza of an Rs 18 crore deal, of which Rs 8 crore was to be paid to Sameer Wankhede.

Also, Sail claimed that the same evening, KP Gosavi, Sam D'Souza and Shah Rukh Khan's manager Pooja Dadlani, had a 15-minute meeting inside a car. He also said he had received the cash from KP Gosavi and handed it over to Sam D'Souza.

Following allegations, DG, NCB, had ordered the vigilance section to mark probe into the alleged pay-offs to NCB officer Sameer Wankhede in the cruise ship drug case.
