Extremely heavy rains likely over Konkan and Goa
New Delhi: Heavy to very heavy Rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy rains at isolated areas is very likely over Konkan and Goa on Wednesday, July 22, according to IMD report.
Also, heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls at isolated places over Ghat Areas of Madhya Maharashtra; heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana and Coastal and South Interior Karnataka.
Significant Weather Features:
♦ The Monsoon Trough at mean sea level now passes through Ferozepur, Delhi, Lucknow, Patna, Jamshedpur, Balasore and thence southeastwards to northwest Bay of Bengal. Its western end is likely to shift further northwards during the next 12 hours for a brief period.
♦ Subsequently, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over Northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours.
♦ An off-shore trough at mean sea level runs from Maharashtra coast to Karnataka coast. It is likely to persist during the next 3-4 days.

♦ A shear zone runs along Lat. 18°N in middle tropospheric levels and is likely to persist till today, the July 20. Under the influence of the above systems:
♦ Rainfall activity over Northwest India is very likely to decrease today, and further decrease is likely tomorrow. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with heavy falls at isolated places likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and northwest Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours and a further decrease in rainfall activity over Northwest India after that.
♦ Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls is very likely to continue over the west coast and adjoining interior areas during the next 4-5 days. Isolated extremely heavy also falls very likely over Konkan and Goa and adjoining Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during 21st-23rd July.
Isolated heavy rainfall over south Gujarat region till July 23 which is likely to increase to isolated heavy to very heavy falls from July 24.
♦ Fairly Widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls likely over east and adjoining central India during 22nd-24th July.
