Farmers killing: UP police register FIR against Union minister's son 

Lucknow: Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra Teni’s son who is accused of the killing of four farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri has been booked for murder, criminal conspiracy. 

Following protests from the farmers, political leaders and social activists, the UP police has registered FIR against Ashish Mishra and others, farmers have alleged that SUV ran over protesting farmers, killed four people on spot on Sunday. In the aftermath of four people died, miscreants have killed three bjp workers and one journalist. 

Lakhimpur Kheri superintendent of police (SP) Vijay Dhull said the FIR was filed under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 302 for murder, 304-A for causing death due to reckless driving, 120-B for criminal conspiracy and 147 for rioting at the Tikunia police station.

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait, later announced to withdraw the protest after talks with Uttar Pradesh additional chief secretary (agriculture) Devesh Chaturvedi and additional director general (ADG) of police (law and order) Prashant Kumar, UP government has assured to take action against culprits who killed four farmers.

Additional chief secretary ( home) Awanish Kumar Awasthi said the Uttar Pradesh government will give ₹45 lakh each and a government job at the local level to the family members of all eight deceased persons, while the injured will be given ₹10 lakh each. 

“We have assured them of strictest action against those involved behind the violence and deaths of eight people. The inquiry of the incident will be carried out by a retired judge of the high court,” ADG Prashant Kumar said.

Minister’s son has claimed that he was not in the spot, his name has been wrongly implicated in the case. Even his father, Minister of State Home Affairs, Ajay Kumar Mishra said that if his son was in the spot, he wouldn’t have returned home alive. He categorically denied his son’s involvement in the crime.
