Fodder scam 5th case: CBI court sentences Lalu Prasad Yadav to 5 years
Lalu Yadav has now been convicted in all five fodder scam cases in which he was named as a conspirator.
Ranchi: Ranchi CBI court on Monday sentenced RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav to five years' imprisonment and imposed a Rs 60 Lakh fine on him in the 5th case of fodder scam.
Lalu Prasad Yadav was convicted of fraudulent withdrawal from Doranda treasury in the Rs 139.5 crore Doranda treasury embezzlement case by a CBI Special Court in Ranchi on February 15.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said, "I will not comment on the court verdict. This is not the last judgment. High Court, Supreme court are there. We've challenged it in the High court and we are hopeful that the judgment of lower court will change in High Court".

Yadav was convicted in the controversial Fodder Scam, and was serving a term until 17 April 2021, when he was granted bail from the Jharkhand High Court in the corruption scandal. The court granted bail to him in the Dumka treasury case, in which he was convicted of withdrawing Rs 3.13 crore from the treasury in Jharkhand's Dumka, formerly in Bihar.
He is Yadav is one of the first noted politicians to lose a parliamentary seat on being arrested in fodder scam as per the Supreme Court decision banning convicted legislators to hold their posts.
