Goa counting of votes underway, BJP leading

Panjim: Counting of votes for 40 members Assembly election in Goa is underway. The Congress party which was leading on 19 seats initially failed to continue the lead and now it is leading on 12 seats. The BJP which leads on 14 seats in the initial trends now leading on 21 seats.
The TMC's new entrant to the coastal state’s politics leads on five seats, when EVMs were opened, the TMC took lead on four seats.

If BJP managed to secure a simple majority, it is likely to announce Dr Pramod Sawant as the CM. If Congress come close to the majority mark, it is likely to announce its former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat to lead the state once again. AAP announced Amit Palekar as the party’s CM.
In 2017, Congress had emerged as the single largest party, winning 17 seats but the BJP, which won 13 seats, managed to form the government with the support of the Goa Forward Party and the MGP which had won three seats each, and two independents.
