Goa: Veteran Congress leader Faleiro resigns party
Congress leader Faleiro has praised TMC leader and Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and called her streetfighter who can give the fight to BJP.
Panaji: Ending his 40 years of association with Congress, the senior Congress leader Luizinho Faleiro resigned from the party on Monday; he is likely to join Trinamool Congress of Mamata Banerjee.
Before he quitting the grand old party, Faleiro has praised Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and called her streetfighter who can give the fight to BJP.
"Mamata Banerjee has given a tough fight to Narendra Modi. The Mamata formula has won in Bengal," Luizinho Faleiro told reporters before quitting the party.
After consulting with voters of his constituency, Mr. Faleiro has decided to quit Congress. Soon after his resignation to the party, TMC leader Derek O Brien started to follow Mr. Faleiro in twitter. Mr. Derek O Brien and Prasun Banerjee have been in Goa for talks with Mr. Faleiro.
Though Mr. Faleiro has not announced his future course of action, but sources close to him said that he will join TMC soon, he has already held one round of talks with top TMC leaders in Kolkata.
Mr Faleiro is likely to bolster the Trinamool in Goa, where the Congress is considerably weakened and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is campaigning aggressively, said a political analyst.
I, Luizinho Faleiro, hereby tender my resignation of my seat in the house w.e.f. 27th Sep 2021.
