HD Kumaraswamy calls on BS Yediyurappa
Bengaluru: In a surprising move, former chief minister and senior Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Kumaraswamy called on Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Monday.
Kumaraswamy was accompanied by JDS legislative members of the Mandya district. The meeting was held at 'Krishna' chief minister's official residence.
The meeting was reportedly over the resumption of Mysugar factory of Mandya district. Kumaraswamy and party MLAs requested the chief minister not to privatise the Mysugar factory. The company founded by Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar in 1933 was instrumental in the growth of Mandya district.
However, the discussion has aroused political speculations amidst clamour over the change of guard in the incumbent BJP government.
The meeting comes after Kumaraswamy has criticised the Centre over the Goods and Services Tax regime, calling it merely a symbol of fascism of Congress and BJP.
Kumaraswamy had met Yediyurappa on many occasions after the collapse of the Congress-JDS coalition government in 2019.
In 2020, Kumaraswamy had held talks with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and both leaders said it was about the rain situation in Bengaluru.
