Bengaluru: A three-judge bench is hearing the petitions against the banning of hijab in classrooms in Karnataka. The bench is headed by Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi. Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi: CJ Awasthi Graduated in Law from Lucknow University in the year 1986. . Enrolled as an Advocate on Feb 01, 1987. He practised in Civil, Service, Educational matters at Lucknow Bench, Allahabad High Court.
Also, worked as Asst. Solicitor General of India at Lucknow before elevation. He was elevated as Additional Judge of High Court of Judicature at Allahabad on April 13, 2009. He took oath as permanent Judge on December 24, 2010. His Lordship took oath as the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court on 11.10.2021.
Honourable Justice Mr. Krishna S. Dixit: Justice Dixit was enrolled as an advocate in July 1989. Since then he was practising in the Hon'ble High Court of Karnataka and High Court of Madras, specializing in Law of Writs, Election Laws and Service Laws.
He was appearing in cases before the Service Law Tribunals of several States. He was appointed as the Senior Standing Counsel for the Election Commission of India and also as an Addl. Central Government Standing Counsel since 1999.
He has also served as Standing Counsel for the University Grants Commission, the Competition Commission of India, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Karnataka Veterinary Sciences University, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, National Institute of Unani Medicines, etc. He was appointed as Amicus Curiae in a few matters before the Hon'ble High Court of Karnataka.
He was Panel Counsel for a few Nationalized Banks. He was also a para academician and a part-time lecturer in a Law College in Bengaluru for a few years.
Having been appointed as the Assistant Solicitor General of India in the year 2014, he was appearing for the Central Government in numerous important cases till his elevation as a Judge of the High Court of Karnataka on 14th February 2018.
Hon'ble Ms. Justice Khazi Jaibunnisa Mohiuddin: Justice Khazi Jaibunnisa was born on 08.10.1963. She was appointed as Additional Judge of the High Court of Karnataka and took oath on 25.03.2021. She is the sixth woman judge in the Karnataka High Court. As an advocate at Vijayapura and Bengaluru from 1988 to 1993, she practised both civil and criminal laws. She was appointed as Civil Judge and JMFC in October 1993 and worked in Tumakuru, Kodagu, Mandya, Bengaluru and Bengaluru Rural district between 1993 and 2003.
