Hrithik Roshan to Make Directorial Debut With ‘Krrish 4,’ Yash Raj Films Boards Indian Superhero Franchise

In a seismic shift for Bollywood’s premier superhero franchise, megastar Hrithik Roshan will make his directorial debut with “Krrish 4.”
The actor, who has headlined all three previous blockbusters in the series, will pull double duty as both director and star in the hotly anticipated sequel.
Leading Indian studio Yash Raj Films, led by Aditya Chopra, will produce the tentpole in association with franchise creator Rakesh Roshan, marking a significant new chapter for India’s homegrown superhero saga.
The “Krrish” franchise, Bollywood’s pioneering superhero saga headlined by Hrithik Roshan, remains one of the industry’s most ambitious and enduring cinematic gambits. Launched in 2003 with “Koi… Mil Gaya” — a sci-fi tearjerker that married Spielbergian wonder with Indian emotions — the series hit full throttle with 2006’s “Krrish” and 2013’s “Krrish 3,” establishing Roshan’s masked crusader as India’s answer to Superman with a side of melodrama. Directed by Rakesh Roshan and backed by the family banner FilmKraft Productions, the films have walked a tightrope between VFX spectacle and myth-laced storytelling, with shape-shifting villains, telekinetic battles, and moral undertones wrapped in Bollywood bombast.
