IT finally raids premises of Samajawadi Party MLC Pushpraj Jain

Lucknow:  Day after it's massive IT raids against Kanpur based perfume businessman Piyush Jain, now IT department has raided the business entity of another PJ’s. It has carried out a search operation on Samajwadi Party’s MLC, Pushpraj Jain’s business firms and house.

According to sources from the IT department, raids have taken place at 50 locations in three states. IT raid is carried out at two to three entities that link to Pushpraj Jain. IT raid has taken place after specific inputs of tax evasion from Pushparaj Jain.

Two days back, IT has taken a massive raid at Kanpur based industrialist Piyush Jain, who owned the perfume industry. Ruling BJP has linked Piyush Jain to Samajawadi party. However Akhilesh Yadav has rubbished the charges and said that Piyush Jain is in no way connected to SP, but he mocked at BJP saying that IT has raided Piyush Jain by mistaken identity. In fact, Pushpraj Jain is SP MLC, recently he released Samajwadi Party perfume to the market. He also owned the perfume industry.

Around 50 locations are being searched by the Income Tax Department in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Mumbai linked to the businessman who owns perfumery, petrol pumps and cold storage operations and had launched a 'Samajwadi Party perfume' ahead of UP elections due early next year.

The opposition party responded to the raids on Twitter: "After a huge failure last time, this time BJP's ultimate ally IT (income Tax Department) has finally raided the place of SP MLC Shri Pushp Raj Jain and other perfume traders of Kannauj. Openly misuse of central agencies by scared BJP is common in UP elections. People are watching everything, they will answer by vote."

IT raid has made political mudslinging between Samajwadi Party and BJP. During a raid at Piyush Jain houses and factory, IT has seized Rs. 196 crore cash and 23 kg gold. IT has later arrested Piyush Jain. BJP has alleged that Piyush Jain has recently launched Samajwadi Party perfume. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi has criticized that “boxes filled with notes have come out. The people of Kanpur understand business and trade well. Before 2017, the perfume of corruption that they had sprinkled all over Uttar Pradesh is there for everyone to see”, Mr. Modi said during his visit to Kanpur.

Hitting back, Mr Yadav has said the BJP had mixed up businessman Piyush Jain with Samajwadi Party's Pushpraj Jain, who launched the perfume named after the party. Denying any link with Piyush Jain, he said the BJP got "its own businessman raided by mistake".
