Chandigarh: In the midst of turmoil in the Punjab Congress unit, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will embark two day tour in poll-bound Punjab from Wednesday. 

AAP sources said that Mr. Kejriwal will announce major poll promises to the people, including free electricity and a free drinking water supply on the lines of Delhi. Punjab will go for poll on February- March 2022. 

Besides meeting with party leaders, Mr. Kejriwal will meet traders and businessmen in Ludhiana during his first day of visit. Delhi chief minister will address a press conference on September 30, during the press meet, he will make a big announcement, the party said on twitter. 

Mr. Kejriwal visit to Punjab get significant following political turmoil is unfolded in ruling Congress. Despite change of leadership in the state, political uncertainty in ruling Congress did not stopped. Political observers say that AAP will capitalize the political turmoil in the state and emerge as an alternative to Congress and BJP.

Reacting to Navjot Sidhu's resignation as chief of the state unit, AAP's Punjab president Bhagwant Mann accused the Congress of “insulting” the state and its people in their “fight for the chair”.

Though AAP Punjab unit has faced similar internal bickering, but it has set right its house in order. Now expecting few disgruntled leaders from Congress and BJP will join the party. The party has successfully highlighted the misdeeds of both Congress and Akali Dal rule in the state and pleaded with the people to give them a chance in the 2022 Assembly elections. 

AAP leaders, Kotkapura MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan stated that the party had received a good response from the people; while their visit to Delhi to visit the farmers' protest site, these leaders have seen the development works of AAP government in Delhi.

In 2017 elections, AAP won 20 seats, in 2022, it has focusing on Delhi model of development, including offering freebies to the people. In Delhi AAP is providing free electricity. It has given similar promise to the people of Punjab; comparing to other states, Punjab has the highest electricity tariff, AAP is now focused on electricity and water in Punjab and make it has a major poll issue in 2022 elections. 

Kejriwal has already promised to provide 300 units of free power for residential consumers, waiver of pending bills, and round-the-clock supply if his party comes to power in the state.

The biggest challenge for AAP is concerned; it has not announced its Chief Minister candidate. AAP cadres have pressurized the party's top leadership to announce the CM candidate for 2022 elections; Kejriwal said that the CM candidate will be the Sikh community only.
