New Delhi: Taliban's Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan wrote to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to resume commercial flights to Afghanistan (Kabul). 

The letter is under review by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) India had stopped all commercial flight operations to Kabul post 15 August, reported news agency ANI. 

The letter asking India resume flight operations comes after Afghanistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday that the Taliban is asking airlines to resume commercial flights to Kabul, saying the battered airport is now "fully operational" and promising "full cooperation" with carriers, reported Reuters.

Spokesperson Abdul Qahar Balkhi said in a tweet, "MoFA’s Request Regarding Resumption of International Flights from Afghanistan September 26, 2021 The recent political changes in Afghanistan caused a series of technical issues within the aviation sector due to which international flights to Afghanistan were suspended and many".
