Last video of Mi-17 chopper before it crashes went viral

Coonoor: Last video footage of the IAF Mi-17 helicopter before it crashed in Coonoor of Nilgiris in Tamil Nandu went viral on social media. In a tragic incident, Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 defence personals were killed.

The video was captured by the locals at the last moment of its crash. However Indian Air Force has yet to authenticate that video. The video shows that the chopper is flying over the hills when a change in the sound stops witness short.

The chopper is not heard at all when witnesses look in the general direction. One person seems to ask: "What happened? Did it fall or crash?" Another voice replies: "Yes".

Video also indicates that the helicopter was flying in low range, thick mist and fog also block the image of the helicopter when it proceeds. Chopper took off at 11.48 am, was descending and would have landed in 10 minutes. But it missing at 12.22 pm.

Soon after helicopter crashes in the thick forest region in Nilgiris. Lone survivor Group Captain Varun Singh has been critically injured, being treated for severe burn injuries at Wellington Military hospital.

Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary visited the crash site today as investigations began into what caused the crash.
