HM Revanna and MLC CM Ibrahim have attended the first day of a 10-day long march demanding the construction of a Mekedatu reservoir
Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar-led Mekedatu Padayatra, in the face of COVID-19 surge in the state, has resulted in two senior leaders testing positive for coronavirus.
Two Karnataka Congress leaders who are part of Mekedatu march-Former minister HM Revanna and MLC CM Ibrahim- have tested positive for Covid a day after DK Shivakumar refused to take the COVID-19 test.
HM Revanna and MLC CM Ibrahim have attended the first day of a 10-day long march demanding the construction of a Mekedatu reservoir across the Cauvery river. Both the leaders had come in contact with Shivakumar during the march.
Refusing to give samples to the doctors who reached out to hi, DK Shivakumar said the state government has imposed restrictions and given inflated figures of Coronavirus cases just to prevent the padayatra. He stated that police issued a notice under the 144 section directing Congress not to conduct march was contrary to the order of the Supreme Court order.
“The state government has imposed stringent guidelines across the state just to prevent Padayatra of the party. Let the state government file the case against those who attended the inaugural function of Padayatra. I will send the voter ID and photos of each party worker who attended the function”, Mr. Shivakumar said.
