Mumbai Crime Branch constitutes SIT to probe pornography case
Mumbai: Mumbai Crime Branch Friday constituted an SIT to investigate the Pornography case. An ACP-level officer to head the SIT. The team will report to senior officers of the Crime Branch, reported news agency ANI.
Mumbai Police Crime Branch has arrested actress Shilpa Shetty's husband and businessman Raj Kundra in connection with a case relating to the production of Pornography. The police said they have sufficient evidence regarding the case against Raj Kundra.
Kundra has been booked with IPC sections of cheating, indulging in obscene acts in public places, and publicly exhibiting or circulating obscene books or literature under the Information Technology Act.
The Mumbai Police has opposed Raj Kundra's bail pleas before the sessions court, claiming that if released, the accused could commit similar offences again and impact the "social culture". Kundra and co-accused Ryan Thorpe had filed for bail before the sessions court after the metropolitan magistrate's court rejected similar pleas last month.
According to reports, 12 persons, including Raj Kundra, have been arrested so far, and four FIRs registered in the case.
