Ansari is not a member of either houses of the UP legislature. He is from Ballia and took oath as one of the 52 ministers on Friday along with CM Yogi Adityanath.
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh’s lone Muslim minister Danish Azad Ansari on Friday said that he became a minister in the Yogi Adityanath’s government was not unexpected, it was a symbol of faith reposed by the party in a dedicated worker and a slap on the faces of prime Opposition Samajwadi Party and Congress.
He said he is glad that he was given an opportunity to serve the people and said his appointment is a slap by the BJP to SP and Congress. The minister claimed that the Muslim community has got all the benefits of schemes launched by the previous Yogi government.
He vowed that he would strive for the upliftment of Muslims and ensures every Muslim make use of the program launched for their benefit.

He thanked the party for providing him an opportunity, he said it was the party who recognize the worker like him and give them the opportunity.
When questioned if receiving the ministerial position came as a surprise, he answered, "This was not the case at all. The BJP appreciates each and every worker's efforts. For me, it represents the party's faith in its hardworking employees." He further said that Muslims' trust in the BJP has grown.
