Mumbai: Dnyandev Wankhede, the father of NCB Mumbai Zonal director Sameer Wankhede has filed a defamation suit against Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik in the Bombay High Court.
The defamation suit comes after NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede was shunted out from Mumbai following allegations of extortion and demanding Rs. 8 crore payoff in the case involving Bollywood Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan.
Wankhede was investigating eight high profile cases including the Aryan Khan cruise ship drug case. Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik levelled serious charges against Wankhede for exploiting celebrities and demanding Rs. 8 crore payoff in Aryan Khan drug case.
Malik has also alleged that he has proof to substantiate his charges against Wankhede for demanding money from celebrities. After Rs.8 crore payoff charges, Mr. Wankhede has summoned to head office, he briefed to his bosses regarding charges.
A SIT led by senior police officer Sanjay Singh, a 1996 batch officer from the Odisha cadre, will take over the Aryan Khan case, as well another involving Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik's son-in-law.
Last month, Dnyandev Wankhede and Sameer Wankede's wife, Kranti Redkar Wankhede had met Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale following Maharashtra Home Minister Nawab Malik's allegations.
