Navjot Singh Sidhu abandoned his mother, alleges NRI sister
Sidhu's father, Sardar Bhagwant Singh was a cricket player.
Chandigarh: Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu's sister from the US, Suman Toor, alleged that he abandoned their old-aged mother after the death of their father in 1986 and she later died as a destitute woman at Delhi railway station in 1989.
After Suman Toor held the press meet, Sidhu's wife Navjot Kaur said she doesn't know about Sidhu's step sister and her family.
"I don't know her. His (Navjot Singh Sidhu's) father had two daughters with his first wife. I don't know them," Navjot Kaur Sidhu told news agency ANI.
Sidhu's father, Sardar Bhagwant Singh was a cricket player. According to a tweet by Sidhu in July 2021, his father was a Congress worker who left a royal household and joined the freedom struggle. Sardar Bhagwant Singh was sentenced to death for his patriotic work but reprieved by King’s Amnesty. Sidhu's father became DCC President, MLA, MLC and Advocate General.
The controversial allegation has been levelled against Sidhu ahead of the Punjab Assembly Election 2022. Currently, Sidhu is Punjab Congress Committee.
